This is a picture gallery of Chiswick, a leafy, attractive, and expensive suburb about six miles west of central London. The area is roughly circular, two miles across, with posh Bedford Park to the north and a long lazy loop of the river Thames to the south.
It's a mostly residential, villagey sort of place, awash with cafes, trees, artists, commuters, and estate agents, with architecture ranging from Palladian Chiswick House to elegant 1880's houses by Norman Shaw and swish twenty-first century offices by Richard Rogers.
This is the home page of Virtual Chiswick. Please click on any thumbnail picture above to go to that gallery, where you'll find a page of thumbnails, each of which will take you to a full-size picture. On those pages, "Home" will bring you back here, "Thumbnails" will take you back to the thumbnails for that gallery, and clicking on the full-size picture itself will take you to the next, looping on the last back to the first. .
Most of the full-size pictures are 720x540 jpegs, typically about 70k each.
There are currently ten complete photo galleries, plus panoramas, of various areas of Chiswick featured on this site, totalling over 200 large pictures between them.
Other areas will be added as time, energy, and sunshine permit.
